I thought this would be a good time to talk about our gear and how we prepare for our trip. The motorcycle is a Yamaha FJR1300, sport touring bike. Before the trip the FJR got new tires and a full maintenance service. Here we are in full gear. We have our Sheoi Helmets on. Our jackets have shoulder, elbow and back protection pads. Our pants have hip & knee pads. We both wear boots specifically for motorcycling riding. We also wear gloves that protect our knuckles, not pictured here.
Inside our luggage we have a first aid kit along with 12 volt air pump, tire plug kit, tools and rain gear. We both packed enough clothes for four days and YES that was hard for me to do! Ha-ha! We knew we could wash clothes along the way as needed.
All the pictures taken during this trip was taken from my Galaxy S10 phone
The next night we stayed at a Bed & Breakfast, The Maple Terrace Inn, in Kosciusko, MS. Maple Terrace Inn is located 1.5 miles from the Natchez Trace Parkway in picturesque Kosciusko, MS. Maple Terrace is a collection of five bed and breakfast inns, each of which is located within walking distance of each other and the beautiful Kosciusko Court Square. All five historic structures (Maple Terrace, Presidents’ Inn, Hammond-Routt House, Martha’s Cottage and Niles-Bailey House) have been sensitively restored by the owner/innkeeper.
Kosciusko’s Court Square has been revitalized as a Main Street USA Project. Its quaint shops include antiques, gifts, collectibles, fashions, food and fun.
In total, Maple Terrace offers fifteen guest rooms each with private bath. Some of the guest rooms have two beds which are often desired by bike riders (motorcycle and bicycle).
Once we checked into our room, we walked to the Town Square and found a place to eat dinner. It was nice to go for a walk after being on the motorcycle.
We stayed in the Red Room. The room was filled with antique furniture and a wonderful four post bed. Look at the crochet and lace! Absolutely beautiful! The bathroom had a red claw foot tub, it was lovely! I did not take a picture of the bathroom, I think I was tired and didn’t think about it at the time.
The Maple Terrace Dining Room
Oh my! I love tablescapes and isn’t this a lovely table setting!
Blue and white china, complemented with blue placemats, blue goblets, candles and the silver set as the centerpiece.
The dining room was filled with antique furniture just like the Red Room. The whole house was beautifully decorated with antiques.
Breakfast is Served
Dale and I were the first guest to come down for breakfast. Altogether, there were two other couples and we had a wonderful time visiting with each other.
More moto adventures to come!
