I am so happy our mobile home has a separate pantry! You know, an enclosed space with a regular interior door. My last mobile home did not have a pantry and some manufactured homes you will have to use your kitchen cabinets for pantry space. Originally our pantry came with 3 wire racks that were only 12 inches in depth, not very user-friendly. But that’s okay we can fix that!

Dale used 3/4 plywood to make 5 shelves, 16 inches deep. This is a pretty simple solution for adding more storage to any pantry. In addition, a wire spice rack was installed on the inside pantry door for more storage and organizing. Extra bonus! Dale added an electrical outlet to the inside of the pantry so we can place our microwave and Keurig inside the pantry to save counter space. I love having my kitchen counters free from clutter and love having that extra work space when needed.

Special note: We were able to add an electrical outlet to our pantry due to easy access to an outlet next to the pantry. A certified electrician can do the job for you.

The Keurig and microwave were placed on the second shelf, which is eye level.

We spent $77.00 customizing the pantry, which includes plywood, spice rack and foil rack. We used leftover paint from a previous project.

Earlier I mentioned that my last mobile home did not have a pantry. My husband made a pantry though, he used the breakfast nook area that was not being used and made an awesome food storage space! I would like to end this blog by showing pictures of the work he did. Just to prove that anything is possible! Ha-ha!

Dale was picturing in his mind how he was going to make a pantry that we really needed.

We make a good team! But he is the mastermind.

You can see even then Dale made a special place for the microwave. It’s not on the kitchen counter.

  1. Enjoying checking in our your new projects! Everything looks great, but I knew it would. I love pantries…almost as much as kitchens themselves. They truly are the heart of a home in my opinion. Have fun cooking and having everything at your fingertips!
