Louie the Cat

“I wouldn’t mind having a cat for the rats.”

Happy Birthday Louie!

Louie is 3 years old this month! We call him our Halloween cat. It was a wet dreary day, a day like today, when we first saw him. A dog was after him and he was wet and scrawny looking with his back hunched up! I mentioned to my husband, “I wouldn’t mind having a cat for the rats.”  Next thing I know my husband is sitting on the front lawn, petting the kitten we had just seen with his back hunched up! My granddaughter was living with us at the time and wanted to name the cat Louie. We did not know at the time if the cat was a male or female. Thank goodness Louie was a male or we would be calling Louie, Lulu.

None of us wanted to get attached to him right away. Past experience, most cats here are wild and will not come near you. We left food on the porch and made him a little bed. Our attitude was if he left he left, if he stayed he stayed. I think he knew we were the perfect family for him, because he decided to stay here at the Phillips Place.

Louie made Dale his master. Funny my husband is not a cat person. My husband treats Louie like a dog and he acts like a dog! Ha-ha! When Dale is working, Louie is right there with him and when he calls Louie, he obeys his commands. Louie is an outdoor cat, which makes him the perfect cat for us because we all prefer to be outdoors here at the Phillips Place!
